Dr. Brian Carpenter’s 40+ year career began with seven years of active duty in the United States Marine Corps. Following his service, he held various roles in education and counseling, including running Christian schools for over a decade.

From 2002 to 2005 he worked for a think tank promoting parental choice in education before becoming CEO of the National Charter Schools Institute at Central Michigan University.

For the past 19 years, he has consulted with charter schools, authorizers, and attorneys nationwide and authored books on charter school governance, strategic planning, and enterprise risk management. He’s been a prominent speaker at numerous state and national conferences.
