As Virtus Academy prepares to re-open its doors to 700+ students on August 14, Famon Whitfield III has been named assistant executive director, the first in school history. Whitfield’s promotion from assistant principal to chief instructional leader comes at a critical period of growth and opportunity for our charter school.
“The future is brighter than it’s ever been for Virtus Academy students and teachers, and our leadership team is now poised to ensure a successful learning experience for every student who walks through our doors,” says Dr. Brian Carpenter, Virtus Academy managing consultant and interim executive director. “The possibilities for meaningful academic and life skill enhancements to our core curriculum are limitless. We look forward to celebrating the outcomes of Mr. Whitfield’s insightful leadership and execution.”
As assistant executive director, Whitfield’s primary focus will be to support every Virtus Academy student’s academic goals and pursuits by introducing and overseeing a variety of high-caliber, nationally recognized programs and supplemental tools designed to elevate our project-based learning, leadership development,
and service-learning curriculum.
A native of Dillon, SC, Whitfield brings nearly 25 years of education and school leadership experience to his new role, including posts at Gordon Elementary School and Felton Laboratory Charter School.
