Information Technology Coordinator

General Summary

The Information Technology coordinator at Virtus Academy is responsible for providing IT services to all students, staff, and visitors. In addition, the coordinator maintains various systems provided by IT vendors. The job requires a customer service mindset, good judgment, strong communication, organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize and multitask. And, you must like children because the school will have around 700 of them next year, many of whom lose their passwords, forget to charge their devices, and sometimes look for ways to circumvent our Internet access protocols.

Essential Job Functions

  • Set up and maintain IT systems such as networking, routing and switching
  • Set up and maintain firewalls, troubleshooting, and problem resolution
  • Work with administration in developing and maintaining continuity and recovery plans
  • Fully support, configure, maintain and upgrade networks (including access points)
  • Monitor and recommend updates as needed
  • Support and administer Google backend, Go Guardian, as well as other third-party applications
  • Ensure network security and connectivity
  • Monitor network performance and test for weaknesses
  • Set up user accounts, permissions and passwords for more than 70 staff and 700 students
  • Resolve problems reported by end users
  • Work with administration in developing and administering network policies
  • Articulate system requirements and design solutions
  • Develop and maintain technology inventory
  • Work in conjunction with security personnel to provide any technical services needed
  • Other duties as assigned as may be assigned

Minimum Qualifications or Standards Required to Perform Essential Job Functions

  • Experience in an information technology role
  • Experience in networking, routing and switching, setting up and configuring server hardware and familiarity with backup and recovery software and methodologies, and managing IT systems
  • Able to thrive in a challenging work environment with minimal supervision
  • Possess collaborative and interpersonal skills required to work with individuals and teams
